The Denver Nuggets have taken a commanding lead in their first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns, winning 118-102 in Game 5. Led by Nikola Jokic’s triple-double of 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists, the Nuggets were able to take control of the game early and never looked back.

The Nuggets were able to get off to a hot start, outscoring the Suns 33-22 in the first quarter. Denver continued to build on their lead throughout the game, leading by as many as 22 points at one point. The Suns were able to make a few runs throughout the game, but the Nuggets were able to hold them off each time.

The Nuggets were able to get contributions from all over the roster, with seven different players scoring in double figures. Jamal Murray had a strong performance with 28 points, while Gary Harris and Paul Millsap each chipped in with 12 points. Denver also got a big boost from their bench, with Monte Morris and Mason Plumlee combining for 22 points.

The Suns were led by Devin Booker’s 27 points, but they were unable to get enough help from their supporting cast. Deandre Ayton had a solid game with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but the rest of the team struggled to find their shooting touch. Phoenix was only able to make 34% of their shots from the field, and they were unable to keep up with Denver’s offensive firepower.

The Nuggets now have a 3-2 lead in the series and are one win away from advancing to the second round. Denver will look to close out the series in Game 6 on Thursday night in Phoenix. If they can do that, they will be one step closer to making a deep run in the playoffs.
