On Saturday, March 20th, Creighton University pulled off a major upset in the NCAA tournament, defeating Princeton 86-75. The Bluejays, who were the 11th seed in the tournament, had not won an NCAA tournament game since 1974.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading leads throughout the first half. Creighton held a slim lead at halftime, but Princeton came out of the break with a vengeance. The Tigers went on a 10-2 run to take a five-point lead with just over 12 minutes left in the game.

From there, however, Creighton took control. The Bluejays went on a 15-4 run to take a double-digit lead and never looked back. Creighton was led by guard Marcus Foster, who scored 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Foster was supported by forward Khyri Thomas, who added 17 points and seven rebounds.

The win was a major upset for Creighton, who had been given little chance of advancing past the first round. The Bluejays will now face the third-seeded Oregon Ducks in the second round.

The win was also a major disappointment for Princeton, who had been considered one of the favorites to make a deep run in the tournament. The Tigers were led by forward Spencer Weisz, who scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss.

Creighton’s win over Princeton is a major upset and could be a sign of things to come for the Bluejays. With Foster and Thomas leading the way, Creighton could be poised to make a deep run in the tournament. Only time will tell if they can continue their Cinderella story.
